FAQ

The questions we get asked most.

If yours isn't here, call us — we would rather answer it properly than have you guess.

Booking

How far in advance should we book?
Most couples book us nine to eighteen months out, and popular Saturdays in the autumn go first. That said, we do take shorter-notice bookings when the date is open — it costs nothing to ask.
How do we hold our date?
A signed agreement and a retainer hold the date. Until both are in place the date stays open to other enquiries, even if we have spoken.
How quickly will we hear back?
You will hear back the same day, usually within a few hours. If you want an answer faster than that, call us on (252) 417-2311 — that is always the quickest route.
Do we get to meet our DJ?
You are paired with the DJ whose style fits your event rather than whoever is free that date, and we will introduce you. Whether that happens before or after you book depends on schedules — DJs are out working most weekends — so we will not promise a meeting ahead of signing. Ask us and we will tell you what is realistic for your date.

Pricing

What does a wedding actually cost?
It depends on your date, your venue, how long you need us and what you want in the room, so we quote every wedding individually rather than publish a figure that would be wrong for most couples reading it. A headline DJ engagement covers 5 hours staffed to your event, with the full planning process and custom song edits; most couples then add a Pick System bundle. Call (252) 417-2311 and we will give you the number for your actual event, usually in the same conversation.
Why don't you publish your prices?
Because a single published number is wrong for almost everyone. A four-hour school dance and a destination wedding with ceremony audio, up-lighting and a monogram are not the same job, and a starting rate tells you very little about either. We would rather spend two minutes on the phone and give you the real figure for your event than have you rule us in or out against a number that was never yours.
What happens if the reception runs long?
Additional time is billed in full hours at a rate we will confirm in your quote. If you think you may want an extra hour, it is cheaper to take it as a bundle pick up front than to add it on the night — ask us when we price your event.
How does travel work?
Events within about an hour of our base carry no travel charge. Beyond that, travel is quoted by distance, and events three or more hours out are priced as regional or destination bookings. There are no separate fuel surcharges — tell us your venue and it is included in the quote.
Can we change our bundle picks later?
Yes. The Pick System is deliberately flexible — you can add, remove or swap enhancements right up to your date as your plans firm up.

On the day

Do you handle the ceremony as well as the reception?
We do. Ceremony audio uses two concealed microphones and includes all the additional equipment needed to host your ceremony anywhere on the property, with a full sound check before guests are seated.
Will you take requests from our guests?
By default yes, filtered through your do-not-play list. If you would rather we take no requests at all, tell us in planning and we will decline them politely on your behalf.
Do you act as MC?
Yes. Introductions, toasts, special dances and any announcements you need are all handled, with every name confirmed for pronunciation during planning.
What if equipment fails?
We carry backup equipment to every event, and it is one of the practical reasons our lead DJs work alongside an assistant whenever the event calls for it — a problem can be solved without the music stopping.
How much space and power do you need?
A standard DJ setup needs roughly a 10ft by 10ft area and two dedicated 20-amp circuits. Lighting, screens and larger systems need more, so we confirm the specifics with your venue during planning.

Services

Do you do more than weddings?
Yes. Corporate galas and awards nights, school proms and graduations, private milestone celebrations, and production-only work where a client needs the sound and lighting without the entertainment. It is the same inventory and the same crew.
Do you photograph events yourselves?
No, and we do not pretend to. Photography and videography are booked through two partner studios we have worked alongside for years, which means those teams already know how our timelines run.
What is the difference between the two photo booth options?
Both start from the same price — $375 — and are built up à la carte from there, whatever the event. The attended booth includes a professional backdrop, an on-site attendant for the full rental, unlimited digital prints and a props table. The drop-off booth is the same hardware for 3 hours, delivered and collected, with no attendant on site; delivery and an attendant are both available as add-ons.
Are you insured?
Yes. We carry liability insurance and can provide a certificate of insurance directly to your venue on request — most venues require one, and school districts always do.
Where do you travel?
We are based in Winterville and work throughout Eastern North Carolina, from the coast to the Triangle. Regional and destination events further afield are welcome under the travel multipliers.
